We are conscious of what we buy. Old clothing is cut into rags & used then since we are in the country, we burn them. Pros/ cons to burning, there's enough in the landfill. As much as we'd like to donate a lot more, too many pitch good clothes. What we do is have our garage sales & have things be cheap or even free. They may end up in the landfill eventually but at least it stalls it & maybe even prevents more things from being pitched.

It's shocking isn't it the damage we do to our planet just because we're either chasing fashion or just plain bored with what we have which is usually perfectly good. I donate to our local children's hospice shop anything I don't wear any more so hopefully along the way it does some good, but at the end of the day i'm still part of the problem each time I buy something new which I don't really need. Hangs head in shame.

For those who buy more, buy from resale shops. You help the local economy & environment.

We have our own garage sales often and it's 'priced to sell'. We even 'haggle' with some people ..it's fun & they like it too...they know they're getting a real deal And, a lot of it is just given out for free...if someone can use it, great!

More things that are donated are pitched more often than you think they are. People donate stuff that should be in a garbage. Just to get rid of it.
